Show Descriptions I Thought Performance Was What Really Mattered October 24, 2006
Many of us believe that over-delivering on our performance is the ticket to career success. However, there are other elements that become as important as performance, which organizations do not often discuss. Unfortunately, many get very frustrated because they cannot figure out the "what else?". This show features two Fortune 500 companies, Procter & Gamble and General Electric, that are boldly helping their employees understand the "what else?" for career success. We explore how these companies are helping their employees understand the importance of the P.I.E. model (Performance, Image, and Exposure) and how to leverage their P.I.E. to achieve their personal aspirations. Guests include: Carol Tuthill, Vice President of Global Diversity and Organization Capability for P&G; Deb Elam, Sr. VP and Chief Diversity Officer for GE; and Linda Strange, Senior Consultant for Alignment Strategies.

MY BOSS IS A JERK!! October 31, 2006
Dr. Weaver explores if the problem is your boss, or you! Explore five mistakes we all make in dealing with our supervisors and examine common situations that are difficult to work out, such as:
- My Boss Steals My Ideas and Doesn't Give Me Credit
- My Boss is Politically Incorrect Versus Standing Up for What Is Right
"Workin' It Out" provides approaches that will change your boss from an Outright Jerk to a Downright Advocate! Featured guests are Dr. Gini Graham Scott, expert on dealing with bad bosses and author of A Survival Guide for Working With Bad Bosses; Stephen Kohn, author of Six Habits of Highly Effective Bosses; and Catherine Dixon-Kheir, Director of Organizational Development for Alignment Strategies.

AUTHENTICITY: How Much of the Real Me Shows Up at Work? November 7, 2006
Did you know that 43% of surveyed men experience different identities at home and at work because of their race or ethnicity? Thirty-two percent of those surveyed feel that their style of hair and dress completely impacts their ability to be successful at work. Thirty-nine percent believe their sexual orientation/gender does not affect their ability to be successful at work at all! Why do some people feel they have to change who they are in order to "perform" at work? Are you defining who you are by somebody else's rules? How much of yourself can you truly be at work? Dr. Weaver is working out these tough questions of authenticity with special guest Dr. Price Cobbs, world-renowned psychiatrist, executive coach, and authority on corporate diversity. A co-author of the critically acclaimed book, Cracking The Corporate Code, Dr. Cobbs provides extensive expertise on how to maintain your individuality in the office.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND ME: The Evolving "New Male" in the Workforce November 14, 2006
This generation of today's working men is evolving differently from their "bring home the bacon, work long hours, and sacrifice family time" predecessors of not too long ago. New technology allows virtual offices in the palm of our hand. Men have less desire to spend all of their time in the office. Recent surveys indicate that men don't want to sacrifice their health/fitness (65%), hobbies (53%), social life (53%), and family (52%) entirely for the job. But what if their company is not of this new generation? In finding a comfortable balance, men are now experiencing some confusion, frustration, and dissatisfaction. With special guests William Gipson (Manager, Global Family Care, Research and Development, Procter & Gamble), Dr. Joseph Gibbons (founding consultant of The FutureWork Institute), and Onuka Ibe (Senior Research/Project Analyst for Alignment Strategies), Dr. Weaver explores how organizations are encouraging their men to fully evolve into themselves.

WORKPLACE CRISIS: A Prediction of a Global Corporate Catastrophe November 21, 2006
There is such a gap between generations in the workplace that researchers are predicting a global crisis in the workplace. How are the "New Males" to fill the shoes of trusted, proven 50+ employees if they don't have the same mindset or goals? Who is in place to mentor them? Dr. Weaver studies these predictions in detail with special guests Tamara Erickson and Robert Morrison, co-authors of the highly-acclaimed book Workplace Crisis: How to Beat the Coming Shortage of Skills and Talent.

DIVERSITY AS AN ENABLER: It Can Enhance Your Organization or Company November 28, 2006
In rapidly changing marketplaces, companies that use diversity as an enabler retain the best people and drive superior business results. What happens when organizations are unsuccessful at managing diversity? Researchers predict a workplace shortage of 10 million workers by 2015 due to generational differences in their employees. 77% of surveyed GEN-Xers would quit immediately if offered "increased intellectual stimulation" at another company and 61% of surveyed women would leave their jobs if they found more flexible hours elsewhere. How are successful companies leveraging diversity to become leaders in their industries? Dr. Weaver discusses applicable solutions with special guests Helayne Angelus, Vice President, Global Customer Business Development Diversity, Procter & Gamble Company; John Bell, Sr. Vice President, Verizon Telecom HR, Verizon Communications; and Jeffrey Halter, author of the critically acclaimed book Selling to Men, Selling to Women.

SPIRITUALITY AND RELIGION IN CORPORATE AMERICA: Does it Help or Hinder? December 5, 2006
In the past, most organizations did not believe that one's spirituality or religion should be allowed in the workplace. In the past five years, companies that struggled to survive have become leaders in their industries and attribute their success to embracing the spirituality of their employees. Ninety-eight percent of Americans believe in God or a Universal Spirit and 48% talk about their religious faith at work. For them, it is a necessary inclusion in their daily operations. These companies have seen an increase of 200% in customer satisfaction, employee retention, productivity, and revenue. Some skeptics fear it is a conspiracy to con everyone into thinking alike. Does one's spirituality really help or hinder? Is your religion shunned or accepted? Dr. Weaver introduces Dr. Barbara Williams-Skinner, President of the Skinner Leadership Institute and former Executive Director of the Congressional Black Caucus to help probe this make or break issue for organizations.

We Keep Losing Good Talent; This Problem Needs to be Fixed Right Now! December 12, 2006
The growth rate of America's workforce is declining at an alarming rate, from 12% this decade to a predicted 4% by 2010. It is imperative that organizations develop strategies for retaining talent. With attrition percentages increasing precipitously, it begs the question how do we keep losing our best workers? What are the determining factors that job-seekers use to accept a new position? What makes them stay? Eighty percent of African Americans and 77% of Latinos/Hispanics surveyed indicate the opportunity for upward mobility is important. Forty-one percent of women, compared to just 26% of men, believe having no flexibility with work hours will turn them away. What are the incentives and strategies that an organization must use to keep its talent, regardless of race, gender, or age? Dr. Weaver welcomes special guests Shaunice Hawkins, Director of Diversity Development, Magazine Publishers of America and Elena Richards, Office of Diversity, PricewaterhouseCoopers, to provide these answers.
