I am a self-proclaimed introvert, art lover, pet lover and avid reader. As an African-American woman with a background in Human Resources and Labor Relations, I was a witness to the on-going ambiguousness of organizational culture and decision making, and its direct impact on limiting the participation and creativity of people in protected classes and the bottom-line impact on the organization. Diversity leads to increased innovation and creativity, encourages different perspectives and improves decision making. At the end of the day, it makes an individual feel valued and included as a true member of the organization/team.”

Caryliss R. Weaver is Chief Operating Officer of Alignment Strategies, LLC.  For 27 years, Caryliss’ primary responsibilities have included overseeing and directing the company’s finances, human resources, product development, marketing and branding strategy, contracting, information systems and technology, and client management.

Caryliss’ contributions have included enhancements to the company’s client offerings, product placement and improvements, operational and technology infrastructure, and new market identification and expansion. Prior to joining Alignment Strategies in 1993, Caryliss gained extensive experience in all aspects of Human Resource Management (establishing uniform human resources policies, practices and procedures; recruiting, hiring and promotion; workforce restructuring; performance management and succession planning; training, learning and development, budgeting, safety); Labor Relations (arbitration, mediation, grievance administration/investigation/responses, contract negotiations, contract administration and interpretation; job restructuring and establishing alternative workforces); EEO complaint investigation, resolution and company representation at hearings; and Affirmative Action (developing affirmative-action plans and goals, monitoring company’s performance against goals and objectives, and reporting). Her experience also includes several years working for A-plus-rated insurance companies in worker’s compensation claims management and resolution.

A graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, Caryliss holds a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Management. She has also pursued graduate studies at Loyola University of Chicago, at the Institute of Industrial and Labor Relations and obtained a certificate in Arbitration from the ILR School at Cornell University.
