Janessa Sorrells

Project Analyst

Growing up, I was surrounded by ethnicities different from my own. During my first year of high school, I remember being told that I was one of the “good ones” because of the way I talked, my leisure activity of choice and my music preferences. I learned to deal with my Racial Imposter Syndrome by replacing the pressure from society to develop my perceived racial identity with the confidence to embrace what feels natural to me. Diversity extends far beyond visible differences. To me, it represents a sense of belonging to a community. I am proud to be a part of an organization that promotes an inclusive work environment by removing bias against underrepresented groups.”
